It has begun!

Sighko, Aurain and Letofski stood around a roughly hewn table in the deepest basement of the Verdant Casque headquarters, going over reports of the public reaction to VOID’s flamboyant announcement in the forum.

“Letofski, I have to say congratulations are in order” said Aurain to his compatriot, “Verdant Obfuscation of Information Department indeed.  Half the people out there are up in arms, the other half think we’re blowing smoke and are laughing at the absurdity of it all, and just a select few are beginning to suspect that where there’s smoke, there’s fire.”

“Well, it was rather funny.  All those orderlies arguing about how we have to have a list of complaints and petition for redress before rebelling. I mean, they do realize that we’re chaos,  right?”

The seer laughed and shook his head.

“All jokes aside though, how are we supposed to pull this off? I mean, we don’t have those fancy hacks that Victoria Ash and Bunni have…”

Sighko grinned manically, “Oh, I don’t think that will be a problem…”

He crossed over to the other side of the room and prodded a few innocent looking flagstones, flinging open a hidden door containing an underground armory. Sitting beyond the threshold, a wide expanse filled to the brim with gigantic, steel racks could be seen, each containing a multitude of meticulously polished mines and grenades, crackling portals, ballistic St. Nicks, and between which hundreds of glowing blue coils crackled fiercely in the darkness.

“Vicky really should learn to clean up her toys before she leaves,” the elder vigilante sighed, “You never know what kind of trouble the kids may get up to otherwise…”

These are no ordinary tools however, due to an infusion of energy that has now spread throughout The Nethernet, reaching the whole community, grenades and mines will cause 20 DP worth of damage, 6 ballistic St. Nicks can be attached to each player, and seers will get double classpoints when drawing a Portal.

In addition to these changes, twice as many Grenades and St. Nicks can be attached to all players and the maximum number of Impedes a player can have attached to them at any one time is 10, meaning they will lose 5 classpoints for their next 50 tool uses.

The time has come, you have your duties!!

Hoggins rewards all. Even the Destroyers!!

Author: Thomas Hoggins | Filed under: Special Happenings

Good day Nethernetters.

While browsing the forums recently, I saw a phrase that I hadn’t heard in quite some time.

“There Is No Such Thing As A Free Lunch”

This set my mind a racing, and not just about food…  I began thinking what I could do to reward my beloved Benefactors, who quite literally clog the tubes with crates and wondrous gifts for everyone.

Maybe a Crate sale, maybe some free Armor, perhaps free Pings, all of these (excluding my humorous entry of course) would be welcomed, but so often I reward one group only to forget about another so I decided to stretch out a hand to all, and award Double Classpoints for all tools, not just the order tools, every tool you can use.

Just a small example of what this will mean.  A Crate will earn you 30 Benefactor points, a Mine, 10 points, Grenades will earn 20 points, both for the Destroyers  for Vigilante.  The full list of Classpoints can be found in the guide here

There may be no better time to use as many of your tools as possible, with levelling in each association made twice as easy for at least 24 hours after I have all the numbers crunched, and the guide updated, which should be around 10am PST.

Let it never be said that Thomas Hoggins thinks only of order.

Order Forever, Chaos Never.

500 Bacon offer.

Author: Thomas Hoggins | Filed under: Special Happenings

Good day Nethernetters.

Many of you have already taken advantage of my “Look good and earn 100,000 DP” offer which rewarded anyone purchasing items from The Nethernet store on Zazzle which can be found here.

To recognise users who have already ordered from the Store, or anyone who places a new order I am amending the offer to make sure that you receive the best possible reward for supporting Gamelayers and also getting yourself some pretty great clothing, or any of the other cool products.  I have ordered myself a calendar for 2010.

The new reward for orders placed in the store is 500 Bacon added to your profile, and claiming the Bacon couldn’t be easier.  The $15 order value is still in place, but fear not if your mug is $14.95, that is close enough.

I have already supplied Merci with the names of everyone who placed an order during my promotion and I believe you should have received the Bacon.

So if you are thinking of ordering a t-shirt , some stickers , a calendar or even one of those destroyer mugs getting 500 Bacon is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

1. Place order here
2. Pmail @merci with your order number.
3. Get Bacon

Yours,

Thomas.

Dear Nethernetters,

In light of recent events in #keeper.com, I realized that Order needs to morale raising. So here it is, coming to you straight from inside the Nethernet network. Did you think only people -like Victoria Ash- were capable of hacking into the Nethernet? Think again. I am here to represent Order and to put my Order brothers and sisters back in line. Such timing with all the drama happening inside the Chaos carnival. This is the perfect time to strike and take Chaos down.

To help Order complete this task, I (with the help of hollowleviathan) have jiggled loose a few things inside the Nethernet network. Starting 06/25/2009 there will be a few changes in the game.

First off, I have altered the amount of DP you earn per TLD. As long as you have your armor on, you will now earn 8DP per TLD. If you so choose to keep your armor off, then you can continue to only earn 3DP per TLD.

Second, Pathmakers, the pings you earn when someone completes your Mission has now been more than doubled. You will earn 25 pings per player that completes your Mission. This might be the time you want to revamp your older Missions and put them back in the spotlight.

Third, Benefactors, I have removed the cost of pings to stash Puzzle, Stealth, and Evercrates. Now you can lay them freely without the restriction of how many pings you have saved up. However, pesky Destroyers, I left the cost of Trapped as is. If you want to hide mines in a crate, you can continue to waste up your pings doing so.

Fourth, but never the least, Bedouins, time to stock up on your armor. I have changed the cost of armor in the Shoppe from 25DP to 10DP each. Since you will be earning more DP per TLD, I suggest also stocking up on armor to last you till 2010.

I don’t have much time. If I get caught in here, the Trustees might reverse my changes. I can’t promise these changes will stay for long. They will remain until the Trustees can break the encryption I put on the network to keep them out. Take advantage of what you can Order. This should help us get back on top of Chaos. GO ORDER!

-Your Friendly Neighborhood Bedouin

Victoria Ash Revolts Against the Casque

Author: joe | Filed under: Special Happenings

Victoria Ash's revenge is bitter

[Until Friday, 19 June 2009, only 1 St. Nick can be attached to any player at a time; the cap for Grenades has also been raised to 10.  Watch the forums for NPCs offering discounts on tools!]

From Victoria Ash in response to actions taken by the Verdant Casque:

In order to bring my plan to fruition and restore the name of Vigilante in The Nethernet, I have persuaded my winged friends to obey me – and only me. They will not attach so readily under anyone else’s control. Only one St. Nick will attach to a player at once!

My latest system hack is also a success; I have increased the number of grenades that will target a player at one time, temporarily raising the limit to 10. Chaos shall rule once again.”

burdenday 2009!

Author: joe | Filed under: Special Happenings

Hello, Nethernetters,

I have never been one for holidays or celebrations.  However, thanks to the wonderful community spirit I have been exposed to over the past 15 months serving you all, I have decided to celebrate my birthday, 12 June 2009, by having one of the most grand Special Happenings in TNN History.  Until Saturday, please help me welcome in the anniversary of my birth by enjoying TRIPLE Datapoints!

I hope to see many of you farming your hearts out.  Thanks for making the last year of my life such a blessing!  If you’d like to leave a note, feel free in this thread on the forums.

Enjoy,

[Until Saturday, 6 Jun 2009, Crates and Missions have added benefits, read on to learn more.]

Good day, fellow Nethernetters.

As many of you know, Thursdays are a special day in The Nethernet. Each week the factions of Order and Chaos vie for the right to reward their loyal followers, and until recently the majority of Thursdays seemed to benefit the Chaots.

It seems that times may be changing, no longer is there a need to bribe the previously corrupt, Chaos favouring establishment, just to have the truly loyal Order followers rewarded for one day.

After much discussion, and thankfully, not too much pleading, it has been agreed that this Thursdays event shall reward possibly the two most forgotten, and yet also most integral of the Classes, Benefactors and Pathmakers.

Many of you have benefited from the generosity of the Benefactors, an association closest to my heart, and to repay this kindness, each crate stashed will earn double the Benefactor Classpoints. In addition to this, and to encourage you to seek out and forge new alliances, each crate stashed that is looted by an Ally will also earn double the Pings.

To reward the Pathmakers who spend so much of their time creating Puzzle Quests and Missions to guide you through the Internet and introduce and explain a wealth of new information for the benefit of the whole community, each Mission Published will earn its Pathmaker double the Pings when taken by another player.

A day is not enough time to thank you for all you do for the community, but it is a start.

Order Forever, Chaos Never,
Thomas

Action by The Reserve Bank of TNN

Author: joe | Filed under: Special Happenings
benefactor

Charles Nethersby, Reserve Bank Chairmen of TNN

[Begin Transmission: Until 29 May, 0900 PST Ping values are doubled on TNN]

Today the The Reserve Bank of TNN took its first official action in a number of years in response to the growing popularity of Zous Bucks. The Reserve Bank Chairmen, Charles Nethersby, said in a news conference, “Due to concern over the growing interest in “alternate currency” within the Nethernet, The Reserve Bank is increasing the number of Pings Netherati earn throughout The Nethernet. We will be increasing the amount issued for today only to double its usual rate and assess the situation further from there.

Mr. Thomas Hoggins Esq. himself, the wealthiest Nethernaut, was contacted for comment: “There is no need to read too heavily into the action today by The Reserve Bank,” said Hoggins. “During the Leaderboards Crash of 2008, and due to a number of actions by my colleagues Datapoint and Ping rates have been adjusted in order to correct imbalances. This is standard procedure.” When Hoggins was asked if he had set about investing in Zous Bucks or had visited the Goldensneaker, he declined to comment.

[End Transmission; Zousware ventures are considered safe by TNN, but bugs may still occur. Play/invest at your own risk!]

Naked Thursday: Bloody Tuesday’s Birthday

General Jerdu Gains

General Jerdu Gains

[Until 5/22/08 at 9 AM PST, Players will receive 5 DP for not wearing Armor and only 1 DP for wearing Armor.]

Dear Bloody Tuesday,

“I was informed that today is your birthday. Although we have not always seen eye to eye. I believe in second chances, and I am willing to put my defenses to the side, if you are are willing to lay down your arms. Consider this an olive branch, an invitation to a truce.

“In honor of your birthday, my gift to you is the undonning of my armor for the day. I have also negotiated so that datapoints will flow more easily to those not wearing armor in honor of your birthday. Though one still wonders why your parents named you Tuesday, when the day of your birth was a Thursday, though that is neither here nor there. Consider my offer Bloody Tuesday, and Happy Birthday to you.”

Sincerely yours,
General Jerdu Gains
