It has begun!

Sighko, Aurain and Letofski stood around a roughly hewn table in the deepest basement of the Verdant Casque headquarters, going over reports of the public reaction to VOID’s flamboyant announcement in the forum.

“Letofski, I have to say congratulations are in order” said Aurain to his compatriot, “Verdant Obfuscation of Information Department indeed.  Half the people out there are up in arms, the other half think we’re blowing smoke and are laughing at the absurdity of it all, and just a select few are beginning to suspect that where there’s smoke, there’s fire.”

“Well, it was rather funny.  All those orderlies arguing about how we have to have a list of complaints and petition for redress before rebelling. I mean, they do realize that we’re chaos,  right?”

The seer laughed and shook his head.

“All jokes aside though, how are we supposed to pull this off? I mean, we don’t have those fancy hacks that Victoria Ash and Bunni have…”

Sighko grinned manically, “Oh, I don’t think that will be a problem…”

He crossed over to the other side of the room and prodded a few innocent looking flagstones, flinging open a hidden door containing an underground armory. Sitting beyond the threshold, a wide expanse filled to the brim with gigantic, steel racks could be seen, each containing a multitude of meticulously polished mines and grenades, crackling portals, ballistic St. Nicks, and between which hundreds of glowing blue coils crackled fiercely in the darkness.

“Vicky really should learn to clean up her toys before she leaves,” the elder vigilante sighed, “You never know what kind of trouble the kids may get up to otherwise…”

These are no ordinary tools however, due to an infusion of energy that has now spread throughout The Nethernet, reaching the whole community, grenades and mines will cause 20 DP worth of damage, 6 ballistic St. Nicks can be attached to each player, and seers will get double classpoints when drawing a Portal.

In addition to these changes, twice as many Grenades and St. Nicks can be attached to all players and the maximum number of Impedes a player can have attached to them at any one time is 10, meaning they will lose 5 classpoints for their next 50 tool uses.

The time has come, you have your duties!!

Official Class Mission Contest Winners!

Author: joe | Filed under: Events

Please join in on congratulating the following winners of the Official Class Mission Contest! Over 20 Missions were submitted and the competition was very tough. We made our selections based on what we thought would be the best initial experience for a brand-new TNN player to experience. Every Mission that was made did an excellent job laying a foundation for its respective Class, but we had to choose just one (or in some cases two) and here they are:

Order's Official Class Missions!

Order's Official Class Missions!

Order

Bedouin: bunni3burn’s Bedouin Basics: The Guide [Part 1] & hollowleviathan’s Bedouin: A course in Offensive Armor [Part 2].

Benefactor: chetyre’s Being a Benefactor.

Pathmaker: nitwit88’s Effective Use of the Light of Order [Part 1] & mortmer’s A Concise Guide to Pathmaking [Part 2].

Chaos's Official Class Missions!

Chaos's Official Class Missions!

Chaos

Destroyer: shyiskhar’s Destroyers: An Introduction [Part 1] & JamesCannon’s Destroyers [Part 2].

Seer: sobeknerfu’s Seer School: Overview of Seerdom 101.

Vigilante: Geb’s Being in the Vigilante Class [Part 1] & Riko’s Vigilante Basics [Part 2].

We’d also like to honor the following honorable mentions:

madragoran’s Laying out the Ariadnes Thread: The Pathmakers.
sylverling’s An Abundant Life: The Crate & A Memory of Portals.

From here, I’ll be going through, editing the titles and descriptions and marking them as Official Missions! We’ll then also integrate them into the stream of PMails/objectives new players receive in one of the coming releases.

Thanks again to not only the winners and honorable mentions, but to everyone who submitted a Mission. They were simply fantastic!

Bracelet Found; More Clues for Still Seeking Seers

Have you found her Bracelet yet?

Have you found her Bracelet yet?

Sasha Watkins wishes to pass along the following note:

“My bracelet was found! Funnily a Bedouin named hollowleviathan was the first person to find it, and then others returned it to me as well. These astute players followed my trail backwards to the location of the bracelet. I’ll be giving heavily laden crates to anyone who finds the bracelet and gives its location to me like hollowleviathan, malq, starryice and ghastlymcnasty did.

“You can also participate in the mystery by looking for it too, for the rest of today. Here’s one last clue to help: The vortex will lead you to the trail of a Seer through hallowed halls of Order.”

-Sasha

Additionally, Classpoints are still increased for Members of Chaos into the weekend.

Stay safe out there, Nethernetters!

The Casque's Triumph

6 May 2009, City of Internet, Everywhere: The Verdant Casque, a guild of Vigilantes on The Nethernet, scored an epic win against Destroyers everywhere yesterday when they systematically took over the Destroyer leaderboard.

Trustee, burdenday, said of the prank, “I would like to declare that it is my official decree that the Destroyers got pwn’d by the Verdant Casque.  That is all.”

When contacted for comment, Casque spokesman seven7seven said it was a collaborative efforts of all members, but recognized Riko, Geb, sighko and maledicus for their contributions to the Casque and this effort. Rumors also are abound that Victoria Ash was somehow involved.

Official Class Mission Contest!

Pathmakers Unite!

Pathmakers Unite!

As some of you may know, we have a category of Missions for those officially ordained as “Nethernet.” Currently, two Missions reside in that category, both made by yours truly, regarding welcoming new players to TNN and getting help; these Missions generate a huge amount of DP and Pings for me, to the likes that only the wildest imaginations can fathom!

Today, we are looking for a few good Missions to join these ranks to teach new players the basics about their respective chosen Class.

The competition begins today, 22 April 2009, and goes until Friday, 8 May 2009. All players may submit an entry, including Stewards. (Trustees excluded!)

This is a huge opportunity to not only earn bounties of rewards and treasures for yourself, but to reach out to those Shoats entering into your Class and teach them the right way, before they go astray. Be your Class’s leader!

Characters in Action: Since the Discovery…

Author: joe | Filed under: Events, Lore

Both before and after the re-discovery of the ancient technologies that occurred this last week, the Characters have been busy throughout The Nethernet.

If you’ve been trying to piece together just exactly what has happened, the following content should be of great use to you. If you’ve been following the story closely, be sure to take a second look and make sure all the pieces still fit – perhaps it will give you a clue as to what is still to come.

To begin with Ninefinder and the Characters of Order:

A Player on The Nethernet Mission: World War One Tanks: Ninefinder created this Mission which appeared on its surface to be part of his usual routine, that is creating random Missions with content he finds related to one another across the Internet. However, it was quickly recognized that there was a misplaced link in the Mission.

A Player on The Nethernet Forum Post: Does Ninefinder Have a Loose Screw?: Professor Esper noticed that the relentless Grenading of Ninefinder by JamesCannon caused him to have to take Nine down for repairs, explaining the cause of the strange Mission that had been generated.

We’d sincerely like to thank everyone who applied. While this gets said often, each person who applied would have made a great Steward; we simply had to choose who we thought filled the roles we currently are in need of in our program.

Please join in on the celebration on the forums!
