The young Victoria Ash rages
[A letter from Victoria Ash to the Citizens of The Nethernet in response to the disabling of Ballistic St. Nicks by Jerdu Gains.]
“That senile fool Bedouin – you know the one I mean, Nethernetters, the one whose joints creak as badly as his rusted armor – thinks he’s finding a solution, is he? I am consumed with anger at such presumption! Agents of Chaos, it’s time to spread our wrath over the land!
“For you, my faithful, I have once again hacked into the underpinnings of the Nethernet itself. I have doubled the number of Saint Nicks and Watchdogs you can place. Yes, my dearest minions, we will be able to stack 10 of our tools on players. I have also been able to get the Shoppe Keeper to slightly discount St. Nicks. Make them fear us once again! Remind the Destroyers who their masters are – make the Bedouins become complacent when no mines or grenades can reach them – it is all part of the plan!”

Greetings, Players,
Starting around 2 AM PST, Thursday morning, 30 April 2009 we intend on pushing some fixes to our server.
We expect this update will take around 8 hours to complete.
Patch notes will follow on the forums in the morning; this is only a patch to the servers, you will not need to download a new toolbar.
Thanks for playing,

Ask a GameLayerer
Behind the scenes of The Nethernet is an elite force of minds and fingers known as GameLayers. This week I have volunteered the Trustees to answer some of your questions!
In this thread on the Forums, you can submit a question about TNN, its past, present and future, or the lives of our developers.
While the developers are often available in Chat, there may be some lingering questions you’d like answered, or something you’re curious about and just can’t bring yourself to ask one of them in person.
This weekend I’ll choose a handful of the best questions, and next week the answers to your questions will be featured here on TNN Community News Blog.
If you’ve ever wanted to know what the Navy was like for Marc, or Merci’s favorite color, now is the time to ask!

"Watch out! It's Jerdu Gains!"
Speaking publicly for the first time in many years, the General of Order, Jerdu Gains has called to arms the Soldiers of Order to prepare themselves. Something is afoot in The Nethernet; arm yourself.
“Rumors have reached me of a plot by the legions of Chaos. This plot concerns me enough to return to The Nethernet. I do not have time to explain the full extent of these plans, but I have spoken to the shop keeper who has agreed to reduce the price of armor in preparation for what is to come. Additionally, it should be more easy to earn experience in the Bedouin Class for a short while. To the Bedouins and those with honour, stock up, don your armor and be alert. I will bring news when I know more.”

Pathmakers Unite!
As some of you may know, we have a category of Missions for those officially ordained as “Nethernet.” Currently, two Missions reside in that category, both made by yours truly, regarding welcoming new players to TNN and getting help; these Missions generate a huge amount of DP and Pings for me, to the likes that only the wildest imaginations can fathom!
Today, we are looking for a few good Missions to join these ranks to teach new players the basics about their respective chosen Class.
The competition begins today, 22 April 2009, and goes until Friday, 8 May 2009. All players may submit an entry, including Stewards. (Trustees excluded!)
This is a huge opportunity to not only earn bounties of rewards and treasures for yourself, but to reach out to those Shoats entering into your Class and teach them the right way, before they go astray. Be your Class’s leader!

Today Pathmakers will retro-actively get 100 more classpoints per mission they’ve published. And in the future when a Pathmaker publishes a mission, they’ll be earning 150 classpoints.
In the future, each player who takes one of your missions will earn you 10 Pathmaker classpoints.

Both before and after the re-discovery of the ancient technologies that occurred this last week, the Characters have been busy throughout The Nethernet.
If you’ve been trying to piece together just exactly what has happened, the following content should be of great use to you. If you’ve been following the story closely, be sure to take a second look and make sure all the pieces still fit – perhaps it will give you a clue as to what is still to come.
To begin with Ninefinder and the Characters of Order:
Mission: World War One Tanks: Ninefinder created this Mission which appeared on its surface to be part of his usual routine, that is creating random Missions with content he finds related to one another across the Internet. However, it was quickly recognized that there was a misplaced link in the Mission.
Forum Post: Does Ninefinder Have a Loose Screw?: Professor Esper noticed that the relentless Grenading of Ninefinder by JamesCannon caused him to have to take Nine down for repairs, explaining the cause of the strange Mission that had been generated.

Update, 17:30 PST: We should be out of TNN Blizzard of 2009 (no more white pages). We’re still working to resolve the lingering issues with the Event feed(s) across the site – these will likely take the weekend to resolve.
Update, 15:30 PST: Our hosting provider is going to update our nginx server. There is no expected downtime, but it is possible nonetheless.
Hey, Nethernetters,
I’d like to apologize for the number of bugs the site is currently facing after the release of 0.8.0. Please know our developers are currently working on eliminating some queries that are causing greater system-wide problems, such as white pages on TNN site and toolbar timeouts when searching for tools on pages.
We are then going to address some Events feed related issues.
A number of the posts in the criticism thread, thankfully, are not intended features, but bugs.
Please bear with us while we work diligently to right these wrongs.
Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated.
Yours,
Joe
