Introducing the PMOG Live Characters

Hello everyone!  Seraphina “Octal Black” Brennan here with a brand new feature of PMOG to introduce to you!

Last week, we got to see the introduction of Charles Wordsmith, an intrepid reporter who’s eager to tell you what’s happening in the world of PMOG.  He’s only the first of the many new faces that you’ll be meeting over the coming months as we begin to release the live characters into the world along with the rest of you!

These new characters are called “live” as they will look and act just like players here in the world of PMOG.  They can be St. Nicked, their profiles can be mined, or you could be nice and leave a crate with tools and a message of support if you so choose!  Each of the characters will have their own goals to accomplish, and will attempt to do so with both the support of other characters, and most importantly, the help of you, the players!  Their actions, combined with your support or hinderance, will change the shape of the PMOGeon world and tell a ever-changing story!

Each of the characters are sporting specially made portraits, done by Colin Adams, and will eventually be tagged with a special “Character” tag, very much like the current “Trustee” and “Steward” tags that sit on the resident developer and player moderator profiles.  This way you can be sure that the person talking to you is an official character of the PMOG world and is controlled by a GameLayers employee.

So if you’re an active player and frequent the forums, you’re going to see some new faces attempting to sway you to their cause.  Joining up with them or going against them will have their perks and drawbacks, so think carefully when you decare your new BFF to be Victoria Ash or Thomas Hoggins as your crate-brother.

I know a few of you might be thinking, “So, do I have to roleplay now?”  No, no, not at all!  Just talk with the characters like you would any other player of PMOG, and they’ll fully understand what you’re talking about.  No need to throw in anything like, “Thou ist the most beautiful seer I’ve ever laid my eyes upon.”  Because if you say something like that, the characters might just think you’re a bit nutty in the head.

If you’re a more passive player and are worried about how this will affect your gameplay, don’t.  If you don’t wish to participate in a storyline when a character approaches you or messages you, just simply tell them that and they will be more than happy to listen.  These characters will simply bring more diversity and a new set of storylines and lore to our game, not make it any more complex if you don’t want it to be.

But if you are interested and want to start talking to the characters, then by all means visit their profiles and check out their extended descriptions in the Codex!  The current characters that have just stepped into the PMOGeon world and are representing the forces of Chaos are:

Victoria Ash – A mysterious young girl with a creepy demeanor that hides her face behind a porcelain mask.  Who is she and what does she want?

Bloody Tuesday – A loose cannon who likes destruction, destruction, and more destruction.  He didn’t invent the mine, but he uses them so often and so well that some people are inclined to think he did.

Sasha Watkins – A Seer that has been bankrupted by her pursuit of an elusive hidden power that hides behind certain websites.  But, despite her lack of datapoints, someone is funding her exploits.  Who is it, and why?

Characters representing the forces of Order include:

Thomas P. Hoggins, Esq. – A ever-smiling Benefactor with a heart of gold.  A proud member of the Bevy of Benefactors and the founding member of the Benefactors for Beneficial Behavior, Thomas is always investing in anything he feels will promote the efforts of Order across the City of Internet.

PSMK9, aka Ninefinder – A robot built for Pathmaking by the hands of Prof. Thaddeus Esper, Ninefinder has developed his own emotions and personality, and now serves as the Professor’s right hand robot and emissary of Order.

Professor Thaddeus Esper – A former Seer who most believe is one of the most knowledgable persons in the City.  The Professor mostly remains at home these days, writing down the many events that occur and telling the histories to the newcomers that Ninefinder brings to him.  While he declares that he has no affiliation towards Order or Chaos, his excommunication by The Society, the ruling body of Seers, and personal friendship with Thomas Hoggins puts him firmly on the side of Order.

And that’s your cast!  So keep an eye out for anything weird you might see on the site, any messages from these people in your inboxes, or perhaps getting mined or crated or falling across a mission!  You might just fall down a rabbit hole and into a PMOG storyline!  I look forward to being your puppet master, and telling new, collaborative stories with you, the players of PMOG.
