We apologize for any inconvenience.

As part of our renewed focus on you, the PMOG Community, each week we’ll publish a feature on PMOG and its community. This week’s feature is a meta-experience; I’ll be explaining the motivation for the blog’s redesign after meeting with the good people at Sony Online Entertainment (SOE). I’ll also look at some of the useful functions of the site, and provide a glimpse at future of our efforts to highlight the community you all have created around PMOG.

Alan Crosby (L) and Joe Wagner (R) at the SOE Block Party earlier this year.

Early last week, I met with Alan Crosby, SOE’s Global Director of Communication, along with a number of his Community Team members to learn from their experiences in creating communities built around an MMO. First off, I’d like to extend my sincerest appreciation to everyone at Sony who took hours out of their day to meet with me and help me to understand what we could be doing better at GameLayers. I learned more than I could ever fit into the contents of this blog post in the 6 hours I spent with them that day.

PMOGery of the Week (PoW, for short) is a weekly installment of the most popular forum threads, Community events, and sometimes even a few opportunities for you to help out a fellow PMOG Player. Many of us are too busy to keep up with all the action on the forums. So check back here at the beginning of each week for a snapshot of the creative, and sometime demented minds of your cohorts and adversaries.

This week: PMOG Secret Santas, an upcoming Storybook Game, Destroyers on Strike, win 10,000dp and more!

Judging naughty and nice – PMOG players do that every day with their St. Nick tool! In the spirit of this holiday, we’re having a sale on St. Nicks.

0.5.22: Exploding Puzzle Crates of Fun!

Author: joe | Filed under: Features, Releases

Exploded CrateWith PMOG 0.5.22, we’ve brought out the polish, and refined some of the new features of 0.5.2, available in a fun and easy pictorial for your viewing pleasure.

If you have yet to check out PMOG Chat, or you have been reluctant to update to a new version of PMOG, now is a great time to do so.  The responsiveness of both Chat and the PMOG toolbar has been dramatically improved, providing a much zippier experience for all.

On the feature front, now you can make people work for their Bedouin association points by crafting Exploding Puzzle Crates, if you are at least both a level 7 Benefactor and a Level 5 Destroyer.

Notice: Extended Server Maintenance

Author: joe | Filed under: Maintenance

Update: As of 14:30 PST, 11 Dec 2008, all systems should be catching back up to speed.

Thanks again for your patience during this period of bumps and bruises.

-Joe

Good day, PMOG Players,

As of 14:30 PST, 10 Dec 2008, we are experiencing some issues with some of the services running on our servers.  These issues will take some time to resolve.  Our current estimated time for resolution is approximately 24 hours.

During this period PMOG may be extremely slow to respond or completely unavailable for periods of time.  We are aware of the problem and are working to get all services restored as soon as possible.

You likely will encounter notices that the page you are viewing cannot be tracked, and at times you very likely will not be able to use tools or earn datapoints.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you over the next 24 hours.  We will update this post with any relevant updates, or notices the maintenance has been completed.

Thank you for your continued understanding.

Yours,
Joe Wagner
