PMOG Launch Go!

Author: justin | Filed under: Features

We pressed the big red “launch” button that’s been staring us in the face. Hurrah!

PMOG is open for play by anybodies now. Come one, come all, let’s game together online!

We wrote up a press release: “GameLayers Launches PMOG, the Tools of the Playful Web” and we created a 70 second video PMOG experience as well:

We were fortunate to get a number of inbound links from top shelf weblogs. That much excitement in a short amount of time briefly staggered our servers. With help from our hosts at Engine Yard, we were able to allocate appropriate brainspace so PMOG can continue to think and play the web with yew!

If you’ve ever had trouble logging in to PMOG, hopefully you can access the site now and play PMOG whenever you feel like it :-D

    CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the concept. Looks like the launch overwhelmed some servers. Can’t really invite friends to sign up until its stable.

    That is absolutely AMAZING press!

Way to go GameLayers!!!! You definitely deserve it, as the Beta has been such a blast!

Thank you for this truly innovative approach to gaming. You’ve got us thinking META thoughts now!

    Cheers all,
    Chuck / netizenbane

Well, I just got randomly signed out and the server I play though has melted down and won’t let me sign back in. That, plus the 500 Error pages I get when trying to complete missions has soured me on what could otherwise be a fun little idea.

    Hey, Shane,

Sorry that you’re having difficulty playing PMOG right now. A lot of people were very excited to join us today, and admittedly our servers took a big hit and were sluggish and that made playing PMOG difficult.

We’d love if you’d give us another chance in the next few days as things settle down.

If you ever have any trouble in your future PMOG travels, please e-mail help at pmog dot com and I will personally work with you to solve and/or diagnose any and all problems.

    Yours,
    Joe

The concept looks great. I only hope it can keep my interest but I’ve already found a calling to create interesting missions.

Unfortunately yes, the game is very sluggy currently and pages are failing left and right but with so much traffic it is to be expected.

Be glad you have not been directly slashdotted or dugg ;)

    Congratulations!

Well done, suttree & co. It’s taken a long time, but you got there in the end. And what a fantastic end result – love the redesign still, it’s fantastic.

    Best wishes going forward.

/bug: images broke. mouse-over wraps bottom inch to top.

I signed up but the tool bar comes up with only a sign up clikie which when clicked open a blank spot with two arrows. Nothing types in it and when I try anyway it takes me to pmog site saying I am logged in.

  10. Pezhore Says:

This looks awesome, I signed up for an account – but it seems to stall while signing on to the toolbar (the website logs in fine). Here’s hoping the bugs continue to get worked out.

  11. Quickgrif Says:

Got it, red shift theme does not show the prog.
