Duncan has waved his magic fingers and now: the PMOG machine can speak through Twitter!
Thanks to a number of collaborators, we were able to build an opening cut-scene for PMOG:
This should give you a sense of the backstory for this game played across the internet. And a sense of the gameplay yet to come to a sidebar near you!
Thanks to Merci Hammon for the writing and the art, Colin Adams for the character illustrations, bLevin bLectum for the “last track” off her Magic Maple album!
PMOG is back from the road! We were showing a bit of Passively Multiplayer Online Games at the Game Developer’s Conference in San Francicso, California, and at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.
A mighty thanks to our hosts at those conferences! We were able to describe the basics of Passively Multiplayer and get a ton of fantastic feedback. People seem excited by the idea of playing a lightweight role-playing game as they surf the web, earning experience points just for spending time on their computer, and eventually having more game to play on top of that. You can find recent Passively Multiplayer mentions in weblogs.
So now we have more active users than ever! Hanging out together in the sidebar, using chat to suggest features and imagine gameplay.
While Justin Hall from the PMOG team was yakking it up on the road, Duncan Gough from the PMOG team was building custom PMOG forums, so we can start to collect some of the suggestions and bug reports from our players. The forums are up at bud.com/forums; you can read them but you need an account to post.
We have so many features, fine-tuning, stability, so much to work on. So watch this space, or watch your sidebar for more news in the coming days, weeks, months, for PMOG progress. And thanks to everyone who has come on board lately to participate!
Duncan made some more magic: now you can see who else is playing, and if they’re your friend yet! Click the People tab in your sidebar, and witness the quickness.
Thanks to Colin Adams for illustration and Merci Hammon for art direction, we have a poster to promote bud.com and Passively Multiplayer Online Games.
Yee Hoo! Click for a blow-up.
